Volunteer-Run Event

This event is organized and run entirely by volunteers of the Malaysian Professional & Business Association. Attendees acknowledge that volunteers are unpaid, non-professional organizers, and agree that these volunteers shall be held harmless to the same extent as the organization and its officers, as outlined below.

Assumption of Risk

By attending the Annual Merdeka Potluck, all attendees acknowledge and agree that they are participating voluntarily and at their own risk. This includes, but is not limited to, risks related to physical activity, park facilities, weather conditions, and the consumption of potluck food and beverages brought by attendees and third parties.

Food Disclaimer

This event features a potluck-style meal where food is prepared and contributed by individual attendees and outside parties. The Malaysian Professional & Business Association does not inspect, prepare, or certify the safety of any food or beverages brought to the event. Attendees with food allergies, sensitivities, or dietary restrictions are solely responsible for reviewing food items before consumption.

Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, attendees agree to release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless the Malaysian Professional & Business Association, its officers, directors, event volunteers, and representatives from any and all liability, claims, demands, injuries, damages, or losses — including but not limited to personal injury, illness (including foodborne illness), property damage, or death — arising from or in any way connected with participation in this event, whether occurring during or after the event.

The Malaysian Professional & Business Association makes no warranties or representations regarding the safety, quality, or condition of the venue, activities, or food/beverages served at this event.

Acknowledgment Attendance at the event constitutes acceptance of this policy in full.
